In 1777, thirteen gunshots were fired, once at morning and again as evening fell, on July 4 in Bristo, Rhode Island. Philadelphia celebrated the first anniversary in a manner a modern American would find quite familiar: an official dinner for the Continental Congress, toasts, 13-gun salutes, speeches, prayers, music, parades, troop reviews, and fireworks.
From the American Revolution to 2009, Independence Day represents our countries struggles and accomplishments.
A special thank you to the men and women who have served our country to help make it what it is today.
How proud and Blessesd I am to be an American!

Hi Kathi! Thanks for stopping by my blog. I thought of you as well last week as I went through Savannah. I hope you are having a good summer. Happy 4th!
Amen! Hope that many communities can get out and celebrate on the 4th. We'll be rained in, but it'll just have to be the 4th on the 5th or 6th for us. Have a blessed holiday!
Nice post for the 4th. Hope you have a great day!
I agree with Mari; it IS a nice post for the 4th! Happy Independence Day to you and yours! :)
Sounds like we're in for more beautiful weather! Jacob's begging me to cross the border into WI for bigger & better fireworks. Hope your 4th is a good one! ~ Robyn
God Bless America! Happy 4th to you Kathi!
Here, here!
Hope you had a great forth. Did you go to any parades? I've been going to one every year for quite some time.
This is the busiest weekend for us. It's my son's b-day, our anniversay, and the 4th. It was all good! I think I'll make your broccoli salad below sometime this week.
I hope you are feeling well and your family is safely enjoying the summer.
Hugs to ya!
