Flipping & Staging

A while back I called sister Kelli to chat, I asked her what she was doing...."I'm watching flipper" she replied. "What? they brought flipper back? I watched that as a kid" I heard laughing "No, I'm watching HGTV".

I've always enjoyed an occasional show on HGTV, especially when it comes to the gardening shows. They rarely have those on any more, HGTV is dedicated to home shows.

Sister Kelli is a part-time flipper and stager, she's wonderful at it! I think she should just start a business herself some day.

What does this have to do with anything you may be wondering?

Just a little update on my kitchen.....my full time job is getting in the way of my progress not to mention the warmer weather. I struggle between what to get done during my extra hours.

Advice: never, ever hang wallpaper unless you want it there forever! I said goodbye to my cherished border after much labor.

I miss each one of you and plan to drop by for a visit!

A Wonderful Day!
Kathi :)

You said goodbye to that incredibly beautiful border that I've never seen before, but would love to have???? What could you do to top that little gem?

Dif works well for wallpaper. When we moved in our current house the extra long hallway was covered in chocolate brown wallpaper, making it very dungeon-like. I used Dif to get it off. Unfortunately, under that was giant red paisley flowers that required scraping and damaging the walls to remove it. Ugh! The rest of the house had some really interesting smoke tinged 70s patterns, but thankfully those stripped right off. Yep, this house was a beaut when we bought it!

Do show pictures of your hard work.

I know what you mean about wall paper and stuff. I had LOTS to remove when I tried to stage my old house for sale. It didn't work out so well....

I DID discover that rather than buying expensive strippers and stuff (which I did buy and use) I preferred a mixture of fabric softener and water to remove wall paper. Try it, you'll be SO glad you did!

I've been rather busy myself lately too so I know how it feels to not be able to blog and chatter with everyone. Hopefully the project will get done soon.

You said goodbye to that delicious border? Wow. That's quite a goodbye and you're brave. Wonderful to have you stop by for a visit this morning and lovely to see a post, too. I know that you are crazy busy and the great outdoors beckons...

Kathi, that is really a beautiful border in your kitchen. What are you replacing it with? I hear you about the full time jobs getting in the way! I just told last night that my job is getting in the way of my creativity! Too bad we can't all be independently wealthy right.

I love those home shows. I have border in my bedroom, but other than that it's all gone. I'm saying I'll never put wallpaper up again because it's so hard to get off, but you never know!

Cute border! We found when the walls were damaged too much by previous "wall abuse" (as my guys call wallpaper, chair rails, etc.) the spray on texture works wonders hiding it.

I love that border but I'm sure you've got something equally charming planned.
Your life sounds so busy!

Looking forward to seeing what you do with your room that had the border on the walls. It's a charming border.

How fortunate to have a sis with such talent! I love what they do with staging for homes to sell...or the MODEL homes...LOVE those! :)

Hi Kathi! Sounds like you are a busy girl. Good luck with the work on the kitchen. I know it will look great.
I love HGTV too. Seems to me that I've noticed the garden shows are on more in the morning hours and the decorating/real estate shows are on more at night. I love the garden shows too.
Thanks for your sweet post on my blog about my sister passing. You are indeed a dear friend. Thank you.
Love, Becky

Hi Kathi :)

I need to take wallpaper off in the powder room and the breakfast room, but I think we're going to just bead board over it after looking underneath... not pretty! Take your time and have fun :)

hugs,
rue
